Fourth graders began creating their book trailers using Pixie. A surprisingly difficult but important task for students is saving images, documents, and projects to their h drive school computers. This makes it possible for them to access their projects from any school computer, but many fourth graders need practice. We spent time finding images related to the books they are using, naming them, and saving them correctly. Students then worked on importing pictures to their Pixie presentations. They also began creating text to go with the images.
Fourth graders are very excited about our first Language Arts and technology integrated project! Students will be using Pixie to create book trailers, much like the movie trailers you have seen. We spent time last week looking at a variety of book trailers, including those made by adults and students. I will not meet with students tomorrow due to an appointment, so they were asked to be thinking about a book they'd like to feature when we actually begin our project on the computers next week.
Ms. Smith and I have had to alter our original schedule due to some unforeseen conflicts. I will now be working with small group of students in my room on Fridays during their computer lab time. I will also work with them during additional times as the schedule permits. During our time together, we will be focused on lessons which integrate technology and Language Arts.
