Fifth graders took a quiz on perimeter, area, and volume on Monday. We were out of school on Tuesday, and students took the second nine weeks benchmark on Wednesday. On Thursday, we began our measurement unit. Students are making ballpark comparisons between units in the Customary and Metric systems. They are not expected to make exact conversions between systems, but they will make exact conversions within the same system.
Fifth graders had very little math time this week due to the holiday on Monday and the early release days on Thursday and Friday. However, they had double math on Tuesday and worked very hard to solve some challenging perimeter, area, and volume problems. They will take a quiz next week to assess their understanding of perimeter, area, and volume.
