Most recently, the third grade math group has been creating their own multiplication and division word problems. They have been using Microsoft Word to type them. We will revise and edit them together before students print them to share with their classmates. We didn’t quite finish last week, so we will hopefully be able to finish on Monday. Afterwards, we will begin multiplying 2-digit by 1-digit factors.
Last Thursday, we had a great time creating “Earthmallows” which were marshmallow and pretzel stick models of the Earth. We used the models to demonstrate the rotation of Earth on its axis and the revolution of Earth around the Sun. We also used hot chocolate powder to demonstrate day and night as the Earth rotated. We watched two brief movies on BrianPop to help explain solstices and equinoxes.
