Last week, Mrs. Melson's students were introduced to a website called Storybird. The site uses art to inspire writing, and students began creating their own original picture books. We weren't able to revise and edit this week due to math benchmark testing, but we will have our stories published before Thanksgiving Break.
I was excited to work in Mrs. Huckstep's class this week, too! We worked on solving word riddles called Hink Pinks. Given clues such as "an overweight feline," students had to find synonyms that rhyme and match the clues such as "fat cat." We also used two- and three-syllable words (Hinky Pinky and Hinkety Pinkety). This was a fun way to use synonyms, build vocabulary, and think about syllablles!
